INSTALLER TRAINING

Liquid roofing trainee

LRWA specialist applied-skills programme (SAP) is a fully grant aided 18-month training programme that leads to a Level 2 Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in Liquid Applied Roofing
You are here:

The LRWA SAP is a fully funded 18-month training programme for those who are new to the industry or who have very little experience, and is seen as the equivalent to an apprenticeship for specialist sectors.  During the programme the candidate will complete 20 modules of practical and classroom based training followed by a period of on-site assessment.  Once completed the candidate will achieve a Level 2 National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in Liquid Applied Roofing and be able to access a blue Skilled Worker CSCS card.

The candidate must have a full contract of direct employment with a CITB English, Scottish or Welsh registered company and are resident in England, Scotland or Wales.  Candidates need to be over the age of 16 prior to the registration date of the scheme.

SAP is the only programme in the country that offers practical training in major liquid chemistries such as Polyurethanes, Polyesters, PMMA, Hot Melt, as well as other roofing topics such as insulation, green roofs, rooflights and many more.

We have two intakes a year planned, one in March and one in September with 6 places available in each.  All training will take place at the Sika Roofing Academy in Preston, Lancashire.

For CITB registered employers we can deliver this qualification free of charge if your Levy is up to date. Additionally, CITB funding is now available to cover the cost of travel and accommodation for SAP candidates.

Ben Revit completed a SAP in 2014

“Completing my apprenticeship with LRWA was a great experience and has made me the roofer I am today.

During training, I was given the opportunity to work with lots of different liquid products that all have varying chemistries and application techniques.  Since my apprenticeship, I’ve also started to see how liquid roofing systems are becoming more popular and I am able to be proactive and put my skills into practice.

Quality training provides the experience and knowledge you need for real-life scenarios.  I think anyone working in the roofing sector should undertake training as it could also lead to more opportunities.”
