The LRWA online training academy was launched to enable specialist more theory based learning for a wide audience. The first of which was the ‘Foundation in Liquid Applied Flat Roofing’ which provides a broad overview of our sector for all those who work in it, at any level.
Our courses have CPD accreditation meaning that it has been benchmarked as training to the highest recognised industry standards.
- What is the foundation in liquid applied flat roofing?
The liquid roofing and waterproofing sector continues to grow and so does the need for training at all levels. Improving skills and knowledge is not only essential for roofing contractors, but all those who work in the industry, whether in an office or out on site.
There are now 10 liquid chemistries available in the UK, all with different qualities and designed for a variety of applications. Gaining a broader understanding of this diverse market can ensure people are better equipped to carry out their role, especially those who are new to the industry.
- How long does the course take?
The ‘Foundation in Liquid Applied Flat Roofing’ is the first of its kind to offer an independent introduction to the sector. It has been designed to provide candidates with theoretical knowledge to enable them to gain a better understanding of the design and installation of liquid-applied membranes.
The training is equivalent to around five to six learning hours, which can be completed over 10 weeks using a laptop or tablet, so candidates can complete the course at their own pace.
The learning material is delivered through videos, diagrams, and presentations with voiceovers to ensure it is engaging and easy to follow.
- What does the course cover?
The course begins with an introduction to the LRWA and designing liquid roofs, followed by six modules:
- Types of roof construction
- Regulations and minimum standards for design, materials & construction
- Selection of materials
- Estimating, surveying & planning
- Health & safety awareness
- Installation of liquid applied membranes
At the end of each module is an online assessment to test the candidate’s understanding of each topic.
Once all modules are completed and passed you will be able to download your certificate immediately.
- How much does the course cost?
The LRWA Foundation in Liquid Applied Flat Roofing is available to members and non-members and costs just £30.00.
