Experienced worker training
- What is an onsite assessment and training (OSAT)?
The OSAT caters specifically to experienced roofing applicators lacking formal qualifications that have at least five years’ experience, providing a streamlined path to attain an NVQ diploma. The OSAT eliminates the need for traditional courses, conducting assessments and training directly on-site. This approach minimises disruption to regular work activities. Upon securing the NVQ2, individuals are eligible to apply for the blue CSCS ‘Skilled Worker’ card, signifying their competency for on-site work.
The duration of the OSAT varies but typically lasts three to six months for experienced installers capable of collating relevant evidence. Qualified assessors working with the LRWA visit workplaces to evaluate skills and offer training if needed. Assessors guide candidates on evidence collection and portfolio building, emphasising the importance of active participation in liquid roofing projects during the OSAT.
