Steve started in 1978 as a Trainee Technical Manager at Feb Construction Chemicals, majoring in concrete mix design. Using his experience of concrete led to roofing for 7 years in the Gulf where Foam Concrete was used as insulation on vast Military Camps in the UAE, with a Liquid Applied Membrane being applied over the top for waterproofing in the severe desert conditions.
This experience drew Steve to work for Liquid Plastics on returning to the UK in 1988, where he worked for 33 years. Liquid Plastics becoming Sika in 2009 after acquisition.
Some of Steve’s major achievements were getting Liquid Roofing Membranes accepted in the Nuclear Industry, because of their Cold Application and no risk of fire during installation. Sites include the Sellafield Reprocessing Plant in Cumbria, plus Nuclear Power Stations at Heysham, Sizewell, Hartlepool, Dungeness, Hinckley Point and Hunterston.
Other notable projects were London Olympics, BT Estate, Whitbread Premier Inn Estate, all with Liquid Applied Membranes.
In 2022 Steve joined the LRWA as Business Development Manager with responsibility for membership growth.
