LRWA launches new sustainability award

You are here:

The Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association (LRWA) is launching a new award to enable the sector to showcase standout sustainability projects.

Now open for nominations, the award for Best Sustainability Project will be judged by an independent panel of experienced sustainability professionals. The winner will be announced at the LRWA’s Annual Awards & Gala Dinner in Liverpool on 26 March 2025.

Aligned to key sustainability goals, the award’s criteria covers five core themes: Reduced Environmental Impact, Beneficial Social Impacts, Product and System Innovation, Carbon Management and Reduction, and Responsible Supply Chain Practices.  Liquid roofing or waterproofing projects with evidence of activities relating to these themes during the design, specification or construction phases will be applicable.

Explaining the drivers behind the award, Sarah Spink, CEO of the LRWA said: “This is an exciting new category in an emerging area for our industry, so offers significant potential to evolve. As well as recognising best practice, the award aims to inspire and incentivise others to work sustainably, so we expect entries in this category to strengthen year on year.

“With the support of the LRWA’s Sustainability Committee, we have worked hard to develop the themes, which are based on clients’ core sustainability objectives when delivering liquid roofing and waterproofing projects. Submissions don’t have to cover every theme, especially if the project excels in one particular area, so we hope this will encourage as many members as possible to enter.

“To create a strong submission, examples of best practice and overcoming sustainability challenges will be key together with tangible outcomes, including quantitative data to support any claims made.”

Award entries must be submitted by an LRWA member but can be developed in conjunction with supply chain partners.

The award for Best Sustainability Project adds to a further four project categories at the LRWA’s annual Awards & Gala Dinner, including Liquid Roofing Project of the Year under 1000 sq. m, Liquid Roofing Project of the Year over 1000 sq. m, Liquid Roofing Project of the Year in a Buried Application, and Liquid Waterproofing Project of the Year.

To apply, all projects must have been completed between 2 December 2023 and 30 November 2024.

To guide entrants, further information on each of the five core themes, including example metrics, can be found on the LRWA website.

Sarah highlighted:
