Warm roof systems

In the construction of warm roofs (aka built-up roofs) the principal thermal insulation material lies immediately beneath the weatherproof covering and on top of the roof deck and any vapour control layer necessary i.e. above the structural deck.
You are here:

The deck and cavity are thus maintained at warm temperatures during the winter hence the term warn roof. Liquid applied membranes are used as the external waterproofing finish. Many of the LRWA members offer a complete Warm Roof system that uses a cold applied adhesive to bond the components, thus minimising fire risk compared to some traditional felt built up roof systems.

For more information regarding the use of liquid applied membranes as part of a built-up roof please refer to the LRWA Code of Practice for Roofs which is available to download.

The liquid roofing and waterproofing sector continues to grow and so does the need for training at all levels. Improving skills and knowledge is not only essential for roofing contractors, but all those who work in the industry, whether in an office or out on site.

There are now 10 liquid chemistries available in the UK, all with different qualities and designed for a variety of applications. Gaining a broader understanding of this diverse market can ensure people are better equipped to carry out their role, especially those who are new to the industry.
